yes, i use it quite a bit (stupid iPod...heh)

simply hold down both the center button and the up (menu) direction key on the scroll wheel at the same time. you need to hold it for anywhere from 5-15 seconds. if it doesn't reset...keep holding. (if it goes on for some time, just try plugging it into your computer...but it shouldn't be that bad under a normal freeze. just basically don't panic if it doesn't reset in 2 seconds.)

it should reset itself (but keep all your data). the screen will go black, and then the apple logo will show. this confirms a successful reset.

good luck!!

You can try the manual reset which is hold down both the center button and the top of the click wheel at the same time for 10 or 20 seconds. Now that's never worked for me but....

Have you tried connecting it to your computer? Sometimes I have had good luck with that. When it freezes I simply plug it in, Itunes will open and then I close down Itunes and unplug it.
That has worked for me several times. I have a 30GB Video Ipod.
Good luck.

go with other peoples answers, but if it continues to freeze it could be a software error. What you should do is cet the newest version of itunes and update the software inside of the ipod by formating it. I am assuming it is a harddrive based model.

this has happened to a bunch of my friends before..what you gotta do is let the battery run out completely (i know this is the oppisite of what you said but it works) then let it charge completely back up and don't push any buttons til its totally charged.
