Absolutely,Positively,NOT. It has been only the bandaid on a Fatal wound. Poverty will only be conquered when it is Defeated at the source. I mentioned this to an earlier question, If your State takes $1.00 per day per person on the Taxes and at the end of the year divide this among those whose Annual Income is less than 35,000 dollars per year, they would create independantly wealthy Families or Persons;
who would in return Buy property and homes, start business's
purchase the things they need or want FREELY and thus increase the Economy Greatly, State and Municipal Gov., Factories, Business, all would benefit from this, a Win/Win situation for everyone. Now you do this in Every State across the Nation, and BINGO you have made poverty a thing of the past, it is Defeated!! BUT>>>>>Big Business and Government and Corporate Billionairs and Multi Millionairs Do not want this because then you and I would become Independant and they would no longer Have the Control and influence over us, they would not be able to control us and run our nation as they do now, we would have clout and become somewhat equal. My question is"Why do we stay under their thumb, why do we not adapt and overcome?"

Yes and no. Self reliance is the key to eradication of poverty.Global aid can help countries to build up infrastructures,health and education.However native countries should have the will to end poverty.If they engage in constant tribal wars or are exploited by rich countries , then there can be no end to poverty.

If every one accepts the basic fact that all human beings are equal and every one has a right to live,grow and develop, then there can be better sharing of riches,knowledge and peace.
Poor countries should realize that they need to restrict their population,get rid of superstitions, get knowledge and strive as a unit to achieve their goal.rich nations should end hostitility & exploitation and perhaps cut their military spending and use that money for developing the poorer countries.
