before you rush right in and ask her out, try and work out her feelings first. say sumthin along the lines that your mates think the two of you make a good couple, what do you think? if her response is along the lines that you make great friends then stay clear of asking for more and be greatful that this smart, pretty, girl is a good friend and keep it that way. trying 2 make it more when it isnt wanted will only result in making things awkward between the 2 of you and you will drift apart. just be greatful she is in your life. voice of experience speaking here.

just tell her u want her to be ur girlfriend when u two are alone after college and after that when she accepts it, ask her wether she would like to go for coffee with u or ask her to movie/ club depending on what kind of person she is and where she would like to go.
may be while proposing to her, u can give her a rose/other flower which u know is her favourite or some other little cute gift.
it should be easier to you as you know her for quite long time so you know her choices and what will impress her the most.

You should spend more time with her. Take her out for dinner, the movies, cook for her and see how things go. You don't have to corner her and ask her to be your girlfriend. Just hang out with her more and let nature take it's course. If she's into you, you'll know it pretty quickly and you can avoid the whole potentially embarrassing "be my girl" scenario. Play it cool.

take her to a high school close by (that would be cute), tell her what you told us, the first three sentences say it all, ask her if she would like to go out to dinner as a date, as your girlfriend. Take her to the nicest restaurant :) You never know, she may have the same feelings for you, be confident.

You should make sure if she feels the same way about you or not. Ask her out first before asking her to be your girlfriend. It is better for the long-run. Hastiness can kill.

Write your feelings to her in a letter. She can read the letter whenever it is convienant for her. She will see how you feel and you won't have to feel nervous as you would have if you were with her in real life. Then after she has read the letter, call her or meet up with her.
