You might need to be a little more specific. Did you recently have an injury to the knee that has made it swell? If it is swollen very much and you have a possible injury to the knee, then sometimes it needs to be tapped. The doctor would insert a needle into your knee and aspirate the fluid out. Good luck.

Sometimes this is the result of an injury to the patella or kneecap, as it is commonly known. The area fills with fluid as a protective cushion to help heal the injury and prevent further trauma. I know what I'm talking about, because I fell on my knee a while back, and now I have a slight, spongy mass of what feels like fluid on it. I think it will eventually dissipate by itself and be absorbed by the body. But if it's troublesome to you, go and have it drained.
