Like everyone has said, the education required depends on what you're hoping to go into. I think it's worth noting that no education will make up for talent, though. Your education should be just a piece of paper or revolve around the secondary aspects at what you plan to do it art. You can't learn to be a good artist in school.

It depends. There are a lot of different areas of art. There is art education, art history, graphic design, animation, museum operations...on and on. If you are going to just be an artist for yourself, you don't need a degree but most successful artists do attend some kind of academy or university. Most of the time, a bachelors in arts degree is enough to get you into any art field. Some people go on to master programs but the majority of art positions I've seen only ask for a BA or equivalent work experience.

Depends on what you want to do in the field. If you want to paint or sculpt, and you're really good at it, then there aren't any specific requirements, although classes probably would help you refine your technique. If, on the other hand, you want to be the director of a major art museum, then you'd probably need a masters degree if not a doctorate in a related area.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE GAY!!^^That's really stupid to say! I think to teach art, you have to have a teaching degree, but as far as having a career in Art, I dont think you do. You just have to be really lucky for someone to notice your art. Like to be at the right place at the right time.
