What type of material would make a mask feel/look somewhat like bone? The type of mask would be more like a halloween or cosplay mask.

Masks nowadays are usually made with the wearer's comfort in mind, so professional ones are made of rubber or foam, as are parts of the face ( called "appliances" ) stuck on with a glue called spirit gum.
High school drama departments still rely on good old paper maché for mask making, since it's cheap and relatively sturdy.

The best thing would be a paper mache mask. You tear up a bunch of paper, and mix it in a bowl of elmers glue. Then smear petroleum jelly all over your face (or face cream) and cover with a thin cloth. Take the paper/glue mix and spread it over your face. Leave a space to breathe through on your nose.

Use a blow dryer to speed up the drying process. After it has set (usually about 15 minutes, or less) take it off your face, and lay it in the sun to dry.

Now you can paint it with a really neat glow in the dark white paint.

there is a new quick drying material for mask making. It's like plaster of paris and is available at Hobby Lobby if you are near one. I can't remember the name of it right now but if you ask they will know You have to cover the face with plastic wrap w.nose holes and put it on. Paper mache is really cheap but doesn't dry very fast on a real face Good Luck and God Bless

Papermache would work well. It is light weight and can be painted just about any color.
