ok, please dont answer this if you either know very little about highschool - major league baseball, also please dont answer if you want to give me untruthful answers to encourage me more and such, Ok so im a freshman in high school, im 5 " 9, 120 lbs. I can only benchpress around 100 lbs. while most players at my age group can do atleast 120 and the majority can do around 150-175, however i throw about 70 mph, which is about average speed or so for my agegroup, (hardest ive seen at my age is 85 and lowest around 55) Anyways, just about everyone in my family is over 6 ft. so I probably will be too, and also once my strength finally catches up/surpasses everyone which i plan on doing by working out every day during offseason when they are just messing around, do you think that I will be throwing harder than them and have a shot at making college or professional baseball?

If you are able to develop decent off-speed material there is a chance you could play NAIA Div 3. There is a huge jump from high school to college ball. I was the only one off my team to make the jump, and that was only to NCAA Div. 3.

they say u gain 5mph on ur fastball per year while u r growing. So by exercising properly, working on ur mechanics and grip and all that u should be in the low to mid 80s as a senior. If u can locate an 82-85mph fastball and have a great change up u can deff play college and from there who knows. Also, dont worry about benching.....do u really use ur chest muscles when throwing?....no. Focus on legs, core, cardio, and healthy diet, work on ur mechanics until they r absolutely perfect. Videotape urself, have others watch u....do whatever u can 2 get better. U will not be the only 1 working in the offseason....therefore u have 2 work harder in the offseason than the others. But make sure u do it properly to avoid injury. Hope this helps, good luck

I'm a HS freshman as well. 5'10 130, and pitcher, SS You will need about 85-90 to make college and 90-95 to make pro. I can probably throw 70-75 which isn't that hard so i through a lot of 2 seam fast balls that have A LOT of movement to make up for my speed. I usually throw a circle change three quarters arm to complement my fastball. the pitchers that are getting drafting into pro all throw really hard 90+ and have a great slider.
If you do not make varsity in your Sophmore year, you probably wont make pro.

I am not a porfessional scout, but keep working on your mechanics and stay healthy, you may have a shot. Consider this, only about 11% or minor league playes get to have a sip of coffee in the majors, so if you want to go big, you need to train big.
As for your change up, grip the baseball with both your pinky and ring finger cross seam and make a circle with your thumb and forefinger. Throw as you would a fastball.

i am also a freshman in high school im a 5"6 145 pitcher, and bench 135.I throw about 75 tops but i have a good curveball. and 70 mph is pretty good. but if you throw every pitch fastball then you will be just as unsuccessful as a guy who throws 55 mph. I think the hardest pitch to hit for high schoolers is probably a curveball. get stronger. bench press isnt that important, you need strong legs, stamina and you need strong biceps. i think with hard work, intense training, and a good curveball you might play college baseball, and maybe if you refine your technique you can play majors

From the structure of your question, I truly hope you end up playing professionally because you just don't seem very bright. While you're working out every day you should practise saying, "Do you want fries with that?" or "Do you need room for cream?"

Just work on your mechanics and study the game and know what situation you are in at all times. It's both physically and mentally challenging. Know the game and then work extra hard on your game and who knows dreams may come true but just take it one step at a time.
