Some boys have fragile egos (especially the kind of dumb yet cute ones) and it would hurt them too much if they knew the girls were so much smarter than they are. So, girls play this little game thinking if they act "duuurrr" around boys the boys will like them more. In reality, the smart girls don't really want the dumb boys. However, they probably won't figure it out until they are much older.

My answer to your question will involve three subjects:

1) Boys,
2) Girls and
3) The circumstances.

BOYS:

1) Some boys are insecure and do not like the girl to be smarter than they.

2) Some boys, regardless of number one, prefer the girl to be a beautiful-face-feather-brained woman.

3) Some boys dwell longer on a certain stage of growing.

4) Some boys are influenced by societal norms stating that boys are dominant males.

GIRLS:

1) Some girls are insecure and tend to be on the submissive side.

2) Some girls think they can get away with things as long as they can act dumb.

3) Some girls dwell longer on a certain stage of growing where submissiveness is expected by those who are around them.

4) Some girls think if they act smart, they will scare the boys off.

5) Some girls think dumbness which is sometimes a component of submissiveness, is in fact an aggressive means to have control; passive aggressiveness.

CIRCUMSTANCES:

1. A situation may occur and force the girl to adopt such an attitude to avoid worse consequences.

2. Environmental and societal factors; direct and indirect family, peers as well as the whole society in general.

3. Culture, norms and traditions.

4. Definition of SUBMISSIVENESS by different societies and cultures.

The question you posed is in fact not a question, but a way of wondering why this is happening, because you already know it is wrong. Also I ca not extend your wondering on all girls. Some girls are very smart and they never hide their intellect, or pretend otherwise in presence of their boy friends.

Your wondering in a question form is 100% legitimate. O all girls out there, you may think you can achieve something by acting the way you act. You may do, but on the short run; on the surface, but in the deep depth of the actual fact, and on the long run, real men love real women; partners in life since one hand by itself can not clap; mothers and sisters. Who prefers his mother, mother of his kids, or sister to be dumb, but some males who are dumb themselves?

It has to do with the male ego - a girl doesn't want to turn a boy off by making him think she's smarter than he is. She thinks it makes her more maketable.

For a good choice in a boy, she shouldn't care. If he is concerned about how smart she is rather than attracted to her intelligence, it probably isn't a good match long term anyhow, because either he is just after her looks or none too bright - or both.

Love, or even lust, however is not a logical thing. You can't always control who you are attracted to.

The pity here, is that she is now trying to be something she is not.

i think of boys are commonly socialised poorly to in nice condition into the school device - standard structures are greater low priced to run yet leave numerous individuals at the back of i do no longer think of that's boy's fault in my view in maximum circumstances expectancies of habit that are placed on boys and ladies are very distinctive - that's a gender subject boys are no longer lazier - yet they are extreme potential and that behaviour is inspired they could learn yet could desire to verify with video games and events that experience and undertaking their socialisation - or replace the socialisation( i'm no longer able to confirm that occuring) good question

Because boys have an unfathomably strong sense of pride. The more a girl plays to a boy's sense of pride, the better he feels. If he finds he feels best around her, he'll hang around oftener with her. There!

It goes the other way too. You have to find the lowest common denominator to start a relationship. Then you build from there.

Don't worry. Once they're in a relationship they'll be acting their bored old intelligent lives.

Because, as I have found out the hard way in my time, men don't like girls who are smarter than them, or even as smart as them. They want some trophy-girl who looks good on their arm, not someone who can intimidate them or humiliate them by making them look dumb when she knows the answer and he doesn't. It doesn't matter if she's trying to make him look stupid or simply asserting her own intelligence, it doesn't make a difference that she may just be stating her own opinion, if it turns out that she's right and he's wrong, in his mind she's tried to bring him down. So it's easier for him if she's a bimbo.

My fiance loves me, and he realises that each of us are smart in our own ways, but if I answer a question, like when he asks my opinion on how we should do something, he will sometimes go out of his way to do the opposite of what I have advised, just in case he's right and I'm wrong, to score a smart-point. Of course, when it turns out that I was actually right, it annoys him even more that I was right and he caused himself even more hassell by having to do the thing twice - once his wrong way, and then my right way!! And of course that's my fault!!!
Men do not like smart women, but women should not dumb down for a man. Let him get over it!!

Because of the influence of the society, they see the role models like Jessica Simpson and try and be that. All I know is if you are ever around me, just be real.

maybe they are just becoming playful, because that is what you do with the opposite sex. you play. i dont think you need to be an intellectual to have fun with a boy. take care.
