Whenever i go to a search engine like google and follow a link from one of the results, it goes to a completely different page. these pages often have adult content, but seem to be other different search engines. i have tried blocking my computer from these sites - but the name changes every time. what is causing this and how do i stop it? it is annoying. i just want to be sent to the page that i am trying to get to.

you have a browser hijacker. You need to run an anti-spyware app like Ad-aware or Spybot to get rid of it.

Also try resetting your web settings. goto tools > internet options > programs tab. click the 'reset web settings' button at the bottom.

Sounds like you might have a problem with adware, or google is getting even worse than it was for a search engine.

Try running a spyware scan with any of the free programs available. Try "Search and Destroy" a freebie easily found on download.com or try using another search engine like alltheweb.com instead of google.

It sounds as though you have a virus or spyware on your computer - which has hijacked your internet browser. Scan for viruses and spyware (some tools suggested below) and possibly use a more secure browser such as Firefox or Opera which are less tolerant of hijacking.

i have been informed about 10000 cases that i'm no longer a real Christian (TM) because my beliefs do not fall in with the extremist party line. I percentage a number of your perspectives. I carry citizenship in an earthly u . s . (america). there are a range of paths to God. I participate in both Christian and non-Christian rites. i'm no longer petrified of non-Christian impacts. I refuse to apply my faith as an excuse for bigotry and hatred. besides, congratulations for no longer attempting to shove the Divine right into a one-length-suits-all field.
