My sister and mom think I have OCD... I don't think I do. Here are my symptons:
I always have to count letters in every word. (e.g. have-4 letters)
Before school, I have to have my clothes ready for the next day for school.
I have to wake up at 6:45 A.M. for school... the time when my sister goes onto the school bus.
I have to check my backbag before school a couple of times to make sure I have everything I need.
Also... I don't know if this is an OCD sympton, but... most times if I see something sharp (like a knife or an edge of a computer) I like go crazy and can't look at it and keep thinking about it.

As far as I know, I have no relatives that have OCD.
THANKS so much!

Obsession Compulsive means you have compulsions to do a certian act. That means you HAVE to do the act in order to go about your day. You obsess over the compulsion until the act is carried out.
It sounds like you are just an A-type personality. Very organized and goal oriented, structured. Most likely have a fear of loss of control.
Your normal. They are just teasing you. If you really had OCD it would hender your life and those around you.

No! You are organized!

THe difference between you and some people is that you are not lazy and care to make sure you have everything you need. No on else is going to do it for you...

As the things that are sharp. See if you can look back and figure out when that started happening. Then you might be able to fix that and hopefully will no longer bother you.

My hang up is lights being on and no one in the room. I don't mind the bill I just can't stand it.

People need to pay attention to their own lives then be worried that you have OCD because you check your bag often.

Kind Regards,
Jennifer

It sounds like you 'might' have a mild case of OCD. It all depends on how you react if you can't do something. Like for example I will check our front door lock five to ten times before bed. It disturbs what I'm doing but I can't not do it because it will give me extreme anxiety. I also can't use the arrow keys to go back and fix something I type I have to use the backspace. If I try the other way it's not nice. If it doesn't affect daily life I wouldn't worry too much. If it stops daily life then I would see a doctor.

When it starts to rule your life and disturb your living, then it's considered a disorder. There are plenty of people who do quirky things and may have a small form, whatever that means, but as long as it doens't rule your life then it's no big deal.

I'm a waiter and I always have to have an even number of pens in my pocket(I don't go crazy when I give one out or anything but if they take that one then I'll get rid of one by the end of the night) and they always have to be facing the same way and they always have to be the same brand. It's a little wierd, but it's actually quite efficient as well. I've got plenty of other quirks, but it's nothing too big. Everyone has their things.

This is clearly OCD. Counting is extremely common with OCD, as is HAVING to do certain things or rituals. And yes the sharp object thing is an OCD symptom as well.

Most of these sound like positive things, like checking your bag more than once and getting up at an exact time. I wish I could be so organized.
