Is television bad for babies?

My doctor says that television has been shown addictive in studies buother parents I have asked say that it was'nt so with thier children. Any opinions

Not all shows are bad for babies. For example dora, blues clues, sesame street those kinds of shows are educational. My daughter whiched from a newborn and still til this day she watches it. She has learned how to count, some of her letters and a few shapes. Some of those shows can teach your child alot. I sit her down for maybe two hours and allow her to watch her shows. She loves all the learning and the music. I am not saying that they should be in front of the tv all the time but I dont believe that it is bad for them. My daughters doctor even said that it is not bad for them to watch educational shows it expands there growth.

television is not bad for children in general it's quite educational and benificial to your childs development. Just be cautious about which programs you choose to let your child veiw. We arent stupid as a society so basicly death and drugs in a television show are not suitabale for children to veiw. I myself as a new parent figure that the less tv my child watches the more time i can spend loving and doin different activities with.

As long as that's not all your baby does, it should be fine. There are plenty of good, educational shows on for children, but too much TV could stunt social development.

too much is but my 2yearold watches tv and Ive noticed its helped improve his skills and helped him learn new ones like how to sing improve his speech how to count --as long as the child is being encouraged by the parents and watching educational television that teaches them while they watch theyll be ok

depends on what your watching. kids shows like little einstiens and stuff is good, they are educational!
