f(1) = -3

f(-2) = 2(-2)^2 - 5
f(-2) = 8 - 5

all ya gotta do is plug in the value to the function so f(1)=2*1^2-5
=2-5
=-3

and f(2)=2*2^2-5
=2*4-5
=8-5
=3
