The benefits of Mac:

No viruses, or any other malware for that fact. (This is due to Mac OS X's UNIX underpinnings, not "lack of users" or "low market share.")

Seamless integration. Your hardware will work perfectly with your software, because both are designed by Apple.

You will enjoy many advanced features that are not available in Windows, even Vista. Features like Exposé, Spotlight Search, a built-in dictionary that can be invoked in any application with a simple keystroke, easy to build scripting using Automator, zero-configuration networking, system wide spell checking and many more.

Macs can dual-boot with Windows or run Windows within Mac OS X itself. With BootCamp, you can dual-boot with Windows and run any PC application, even high-end games.

Excellent support and customer service. Apple is well known for it's support. I had a wonderful experience with Apple when the logic board in my Mac mini went bad. (This was due to a power issue in my home, not the Mac.)

Great software. Most of the software made for the Mac is better than similar software for Windows. Crap doesn't survive on the Mac market. iLife is absolutely amazing. Mac OS X is compatible with many file formats, right out of the box. As I mentioned before, you can run Windows applications. With a Mac, you can have it both ways.

Beautiful hardware. Quality hardware. Apple puts the sex in tech. Apple hardware is always beautiful, as well as functional. Apple has extremely talented engineers. One look at an iMac will tell you that much. The hardware is of excellent quality and built to last. Macs are well known to have a longer life span than PCs.

Upgrades? Who needs them. A seven year old iMac can still run the latest release of Mac OS X. Sure, you can add more RAM or get a bigger hard drive, but your Mac will run beautifully for years to come. When a new version of Mac OS X is released, you won't need to scramble to purchase upgrades in order to run it. (Leave that to the Vista adopters.)

Crashing. It doesn't happen. I'm not saying Mac OS X is absolutely perfect, but it's damn close. Most problems are easily fixed within minutes. Macs don't require the constant maintenance needed by PCs.

Value. When all of these things add up, you'll actually be saving money, as well as time, in the long run. You'll find yourself actually doing more on a Mac. Things you never thought of doing on a PC.

22 million Mac users can't be wrong. We love our Macs, and for good reason. You won't find a Mac user "switching" to a PC, at least not willingly. We're a loyal crowd. Not nuts, just loyal.

You will love a Mac, trust me. Don't waste any more time on a PC. I'm glad I switched.

Mac Pros
1) They get less virus (due to the fact that there are less out there for Macs, NOT that they are better at protecting them.
2) The Mac OS is more stable then Windows, the more popular OS on PCs
3) They are easy to set up / all-in-one
4) Usually comes with good software

Mac Cons
1) They are generally NOT customizable (no upgrades/repairs) UNLESS you get a tower such as the G5
2) You can get a faster and "better" PC for A LOT cheaper
3) Everything a Mac can do, a PC can do better (or the same)
4) Although Mac is a fairly stable OS, PCs support many more OSs including the VERY STABLE Linux and UNIX OSs.
5) There is limited software/drivers available for Macs
6) IF you are not used to the Mac OS, it can be very confusing (otherwise n/a)

There are many more for both, but whatever you pick, be sure you weigh out the Pros and Cons first! If you are looking for fast, cheap, easy to use (Windows), stable (Linux), lots of software availability, high end graphics, and/or customizable; then a PC should be your choice. If you are looking for preinstalled software, simplistic and stable OS (Mac OS), a NEED for low viruses (although AVG Free Anti Virus works well on PCs); then Mac should be your choice.

They do not get viruses
Great for art, digital imaging and movie editing.
But remember if you are using windows you will need a whole new set of software to go with the mac, and if you are a gamer most games run on windows.

the only thing Mac can do better than Windows PC is if you're doing with graphic and movies, otherwise, they both do the same everything else. Don't forget, there are more programs to use with Windows than Mac. Why do you think Mac has program needs to be used in order to run Windows programs, but Windows doesn't need one? :)

My Mac and my wife's Mac are awesome. I was a hardcore Windows guy before I got mine and I love it. It's stable as hell and never gets viruses.

If you're taking anything mathematical, scientific or technical, Macs are where it's at. They come with awesome development and programming tools built-in. Not to mention you can also run Windows on the new ones if you absolutely must.

OS X is the best, most modern operating system out there right now. All I can say is, you won't go back to Windows after you use OS X.

Find the location nearest you and look at the schedule. If you need more assistance click on concierge and make an appointment. If your Dad needs more reason then giving you more time to study because it takes less time to do what important then have him watch these:

Tons of reasons to get a mac.
Besides macs looking really cool, the virus problem is minimal. They have installed features where it is very hard for viruses to enter your computer system and infect it.
I have a mac and I have changed my mac mouse to a regular mouse - it's not absolutely necessary to have a one-button mouse.
