my husband had a vasectomy 10 years ago.we r inquiring about getting it reversed. i have been on oxycontin since november. before i get pregnant, i want to stop the meds. how long should i wait after stopping the meds to get pregant (of course if the reversal works)

I am not trying to tell you what to do but get off the medication, it will take a while to get out of your system... And then I would try to have a baby then. GOOD LUCK

If it were me, I would wait 3 months.
Month one: Already exposed to the drug, can cause problems with baby.
Month two: Make sure your system is cleaned out, and are on a regular cycle.
Month three: You are for sure clear of any narc's in your system, have had a clean cycle, and know there is NO chance that a baby could have any problems.
*(BTW, there is always a chance as your eggs are always exposed to what ever you put into your body..)*

Pain medications are typically out of your system quickly, this is why you can take them several times per day.You need to speak w/ your doc about a pain managment plan. Good luck w/ the reversal.

The first two weeks of stopping will be the hardest... but if you can hit that magical "28 mark" any dependancies (involuntary or not) should be gone and you can safely start TTC.
Good luck! Make sure you consult your doctor before stopping any medicinal treatments.

It takes a pain killer 72 hours to clear your system. You should taper off of them, don't stop them cold turkey cause you will go through bad withdrawels.
You should really talk to your doctor about this.
