I use to work at a dry cleaner. You should always take the bag off your clothes you get from there. The plastic holds the chemical's in the clothes and it will evaporate without the plastic. Also cotton and all natural fabric need's to breath. Please recycle that plastic and all other recyclables.

I'm not sure I completely understand the question, but I'll tell you what I know. I managed a dry cleaners in collage and here's what I know. The chemical used at almost all cleaners is called perclorethylene, perc for short. Perc can make you sick if the fumes are inhaled. Light headed, dizzy, headache, nausea, etc. Perc should be extracted from the clothes, and they should be cool and dry before the are bagged. If the perc is not fully extracted before the clothes are bagged the bags will hold in the fumes. It shouldn't really be enough to make you seriously ill unless you're allergic. The last thing to consider is that heavy items such as sweaters are going to hold the perc and take longer to dry than a silk blouse. Check your clothes when you pick them up, and remove the bags as soon as you get home. That will help the problem.

No, because the chemicals in the bag tend to stay in the plastic. But the dry-cleaning chemicals can be harmful, and if the clothes stay in the bag they won't air out.

I wouldn't use them for rain hats. But, if there was a problem they wouldn't be using them
