I was carrying a heavy school bag from September to December. Ive long since dropped the bag, and now Im not carrying any heavy books.

I have been sleeping on the floor since Jaunary (i have a bed, but i just like that floor), could this factor contribute to scoliosis?

Ive been to the doctor in the past year and he said my back was fine. Ive never had any back problems before. Lately, Ive been feeling back pain and my shoulders ache. This has never happened before.

Can scoliosis have developed over a year and can it be really serious?

What do you think it is?

Thanks in advance!

You don't say how old you are so it's difficult to know if you're still growing and if scoliosis could have developed. Even if it had, if your doctor said your back was fine within the past year, then it's very doubtful you have scoliosis to the point your back would be sore.

Try sleeping in your bed for a week and see how your back and shoulders feel. Sleeping on the floor might be affecting the muscles in your back, but it's very doubtful it would contribute to scoliosis.

First...there's no way to determine whether you have scoliosis or not from your description. Scoliosis isn't generally caused by carrying heavy loads or sleeping on the floor. But you may have it incidentally...so there's no way to say one way or the other.

BTW, musculoskeletal pain in young people isn't quite natural. It's always a red flag if a young person walks into a clinic with something you are describing.

Go see a doctor and get evaluated. I'd recommend chiropractor for this kind of problems...

It's hard to say. You need to be examined by a doctor to confirm if there really is a curvature on your spine.

my daughter packed a huge back pack for years. no, i do not think you have curvature of the spine. there are exercises that you can do for your neck and back to alleviate the pain. email me if you are interested.
