Everyone says that im skinny (i even feel that im too skinny at times), but im that way due to heredity i have a fast metabolism and work out daily. well the issue: my mom constantly tells me im getting fat and need to loose wieght (but im underwieght for my hieght) and i have never really had an issue with feeling "fat" until now. my mom was the same way at my age she was skinny/petite until she got married and had three kids then she gained some weight, is this her just being rude or am i getting fatter and just in denile.

As long as you feel good about your weight and your healthy and it's not affecting your health in any way then don't worry so much about what people have to say because it's your body and in the end it's your opinion of the way feel about yourself that counts.

I kind of have a similar problem. When you go to the doctor and get a physical, did the doctor tell you that you are underweight? It also sounds as it your mother is a bit insecure herself sense she has gained weight. My mother is very skinny and i an literally twice her size. When i got my physical, my doctor told me that my weight in proportion with my height, but i am constently teased about how big i am by my mother and my father and his side of the family which are all "big boned." The best thing to do is not take it to heart because thats when eating disorders start. I weigh around 155 and 5'5 and since middle school I have been border line anorexic. I don't totally starve myself, i just eat one meal a day. Now it has just become habit. It's not good. I let my family's words get to me my whole life, don't you do the same. keep exercizing and doning what you are doing until the doctor tells you to do different.

Why skinny or fat? Why not healthy or unhealthy???

Keep working out, feel good about yourself for what you see in yourself. I wouldn't worry about "fat"

I would worry if you have an excessive eating habbit, or swift drastic loss or gain. But you are on the right track by keeping active!! Eat smart and healthy.

If you are still concerned, talk to a nutritionist.

About denial, you can keep track of your measurements, numbers don't lie.

Sometimes I think Moms can push too hard for the perfect child and cause a problem called anorexia. Be happy with your body and if you feel good and you feel healthy just dont worry about what your mom thinks.

she's just being rude.
She is feeling insecure about herself and misery loves company. Don't let your mom do this to your self esteem.
People who judge others are trying to take the attn. off of themselves.
Next time she says something about you being fat, turn it around onto her. Say something like:
" well good, If I keep it up then I can wear some of your clothes"

Your mom needs to lay off!

Your mom gained weighted as it is natural to do after you have kids and get older..it sounds like she is a bit jelous of you to be truthful, maybe she doesnt relise how she is acting. Some people find it very hard to see that they are getting older, and perhaps not as hot as threy once were.
If you are under weight for your height..you def not fat1..

ummmm..... you tell 2 different sides of the story, first your friends then your mom. it basically sounds like your mom is being rude, but would your friends be saying your skinny so they wont hurt your feelings??
what do you think?
don't let others opinions rule your life, love the way you feel. embrace it and then let it out and show the world who you really are.
why do you care what others think??

its just her being rude. Dont ever let anyone tell you you're fat because you are the only person that should know that and you need to eat some more. She is ruining your selfesteem next time tell her she's hurting you.

Being thin by the means of society is absolutely repulsive. As long as you feel happy with the way you look, and your able to indulge in physical activity then your absolutely fine.

woah number one, if you are under weight for your hight you do not need to be on a fat burming diet. if you feel that you are over weight or fat, hun you need to talk to a doc about this. that is a sign of anorexia. as far as your mom making statments like hey your gettin fat... just try not to hear it. pretend that you dont hear her. and maybe talk to her, try to get her to see the doc with you so that she understands.
