The earth is within the Suns Coronal atmosphere all the time. If the Sun were to suddenly Super Nova which it is technically not capable of just now. Then the earth would be toast instantaneously wed be incinerated by radiation travelling at the speed of light.

I believe it takes light from the sun 10 minutes to get to Earth so i would guess faster than that, so yeah about 8 minutes.
