Most likely, there would be a hearing about it - wasting the time of other politicians when they should be listening to the voters and making laws to improve the country.

Next, there would be a debate as to how much to compensate the fallen politician and the environmentalists would want to contribute to his campaign so that heathier stronger trees might never fall on him again.

Then, there would be a scandal in the press about who caused the tree to fall on him. In the end, it would be blamed on the other side of the aisle and ..... are you ready for this one?

IT WOULD BE DECLARED THAT THIS WAS GEORGE W BUSH's FAULT TOO because he didn't care enough to appropriate enough to keep the tree from falling.

I hope you found this to be entertaining, if nothing else.

Well, first we would have to pass into law that trees falling down on politicians is legal. After we pass that one we will need a special license to buy a chainsaw.;)

Depends on the size of the tree. If the tree squishes the politician before he/she can scream then no one would hear. Most importantly if a politician named *cough* Bush *cough* got squished no one would care!!

If this tree be of an opposing political party, then you shall most certainly hear a great deal of it, ad nausea um, ad infinitum en scriptu publico en masses. Very likely each shall have a different take or spin.

Yes, sound waves get weaker but they still travel, according to the theory of relativity, the sound waves travel an infinite distance but are so weak you will hear them but not process the noise. In other words you will hear it but not attune or listen to it.
