various units of time keeping, i.e. day, month, year. navagation, especially at sea, religion, and so many others i could write several books on the subject. go to the library and see for yourself how many books on astronomy exist...especially in a large library.

Astronomy is found in every religion on earth. It has also been used as forms of writings in Egypt and Asia. Astronomy has lead to great scientific discoveries via NASA and likewise for every country who has a space program. It's expanded mind growth before real science for navigation, motivation (native Americans), and religious ideologies. Without astronomy, we'd all be saying , "It's so easy a caveman can do it."

Without it we would know virtually nothing of the Universe in which we live, as was the case when some people thought the study of the heavens had a direct influence on their daily lives, as with Astrology ( and some still do). Imagine if we had perpetual cloud cover so dense that we couldn't even see the sun.
