When you empty the resysle bin, Windows cuts off part of the file name so that it will no longer be listed.

It can be recovered by a forensic search, but it's expensive, and you should plan to leave your computer at the shop for several days.

Also, don't download anything, don't do a scan disk or defrag.

As long as you haven't emptied your recycle bin, you are safe. Just double-click on your recycle bin and you will see a list of items that are there. Single-click on the item in question to highlight it. Then click on "restore this item" under "Recycle Bin Tasks" in the box to the left.

If you have already emptied your recycle bin, you can use the system restore feature or other methods to recover your file, but they are a bit more complicated.

Good luck!

If you already erased it from your recycle bin, than you could go to the START, Click Search, Click all files and folders, make sure in the box it say all files and folders. When you click search it will show you all of the files and folders. Look through until you find what you were looking for. If you know the name of the file you are looking for, then you could type it in the box and click search. God Bless and I hope you can retrieve your info.

Yes, as long as it is not already overwritten by something else. Although files may look permanentely deleted, they are actually still there, so you may have a chance. Try Recuva from www.recuva.com for tool to recover these files, or look for some from www.download.com
Good luck!

I don't think it its. There might be some sort of secret code. You might try searching for it? But, once it's out of the Recycle Bin, it's going to be hard to find it. I hope it wasn't something important! ***
