you describe conditions and the reasons why those countries are called 'third world'. i know lots about such but this isn't the place. not enough space. i've got a suggestion: select countries you and your confederates are interested in (there are so many) and do a work-up on each. geography affects each so no two are the same. ergo, solutions wouldn't be the same, either. these countries might be poor in $$$ but many do have embassies (washington, dc or nyc) so you might want to check with them. go international with email pen pals. the locals are always the best bet 'cause they know what you need to know. between govt connections & people connections, a full picture will emerge. good luck with your plans. if more people thought of other things besides themselves, need i say the world would be in better shape?

The term Third World was originally coined in times of the Cold War to distinguish those nations that are neither aligned with the West (NATO) nor with the East, the Communist bloc. Today the term is often used to describe the developing countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania.
Many poorer nations adopted the term to describe themselves.

In general, Third World countries are not as industrialized or technologically advanced as OECD countries, and therefore in academia, the current term in use is "developing nation". Terms such as Global South, developing countries, less economically developed countries (LEDC), least developed countries and the Majority World have become more popular in circles where the term "third world" is regarded to have derogatory or out-of-date connotations.

Good luck
