You seem to have it about right. However, our problem is with America, not Americans. Can you see the distinction? I don't dislike Americans but I dislike what America is turning into. You used to be a great country. Don't let it slip away entirely. It 'is' sad

I don't like Bush because he should have been focused in the internal problems of the US. It's better to solve problems here first and then help solve other countries' problems.
I'm neutral on the war because I thought it was a good idea. Plus it gives Afghanistan and countries around it the spotlight on the world. It could end up to stop Afghanistan to produce/selling Narcotics (15% of country income). The war can also bring more industrialization to the Middle East because the US has to rebuild it.
Other countries hate the US because of how the US treated them. Some think that the US is hypocritical, which is true. Some countries like the US because the US helped them in times of war.
Not all Americans are focused making big bucks. My family, we're just making enough to support it and vacations. So far, I don't think we want to be millionaires. Most, however, want to be extremely rich. They believe that they can buy what ever they want, thus satisfying them. However, that would lead them to want more money. So, they'll try to make a lot of money until they die. It's sad how society portrays rich as luxury and happy when people can be happy without being rich.

Do I like Bush? In a word.. No.
I am against the war in Iraq... I was for the war in Afghanistan.. too bad it is being pushed on the back burner while Bush plays around in Iraq.
Unfortunately, I do think a lot of us are so absorbed in our own little comfortable lives that we have let this government run rampid and unless it touches us personally , we say nothing. That is being the worst kind of American
And I agree , it is sad.

Like Bush? I think he has pluses and negatives. He could have worked with his allies better in his first term. I think he may have rushed into Iraq too fast.
I do admire that at least he is firmly commited to trying to follow through on Iraq now that he's there.
I think Americans are under informed because the quality of their news service is so bad. They could use something like the BBC. Sadly not clear we in Canada are really better in that respect, we try a bit more I guess. Still we are also pretty ignorant of the rest of the world.
Self absorbed and only getting rich? Lots of poverty in US.
Your generation? I'm assuming your young? Well, I won't knoc you yet. My generation and the boomers are still in control.
Most people are a bit more focused on themselves. It a bit human nature.
In perspective, the US does alot of good in the world as well.

I dont know where you are from dear, but I am 4th generation American,I have sacrificed family members to have the rights I have here in wars for the freedoms. I haved worked hard as my family has to have the right to be "absorbed".I ,as most average Americans, are by no means RICH. We go to work everyday and pay taxes, and pay millions of dollars to other countries. I respect my president ,he is the leader of my country,I wish we werent at war with Iraq, but I am not a politician,so it is not my decision. I dont know what generation you are,but I still love my country and my flag and what they stand for.God bless America. Maybe if you think you are spoiled you should join the service like other kids fighting for their country, you will grow up then.

You could find real answers to this question by looking at polls taken, both in the US and abroad.
From what I've seen of such polls, attitudes about the US are at an all-time low.
Nearly everyone on the planet was against our invading Iraq, and still are.
No, it doesn't seem to me that 75% of any generation is only concerned with getting rich. More people than is good for us, but not that many. (Dunno which is "your" generation, as you didn't specify.)
(I'm an American, btw.)
Oh, and I HATE Bush with the white-hot passion of a thousand burning suns.
Not only because of the war, but because of everything he's done and everything he stands for.

Failed education system, no affordable efficient healthcare system, no affordable dental insurance,( which dental health can be a health threat if not treated), rising energy costs, highest sheriff sales in history, lack of advancement in energy supply and other technologies, high public corruption rate, even at the highest levels of government, unbelievable depression rate( every other commercial is for drugs). Highest deficit and most wasteful spending in american history, bring instability to other parts of the globe, have started two wars that they havent finished, oil companies have highest profits in history, they are still taxing it as much as possible. Did I mention corruption? Scandelous insurance companies ruining victims lives. Inflation on everything possible. Only rich people can run for president, being as they waste hundreds of millions of dollars on telling people that they are gonna help if elected, but never do. Where does all that money go anyways. If we had a truthful, real person running for president they could win without having to be the one with the most money. Our country is more divided ,and they have divided us from the rest of the world. Halliburton seems to be doing good though. And it seems that they are their number one priority. I say they pay the citizens of iraq and our country, especially the veterans, for making them suffer and have to live in misery. They are making an undisclosed amount of profits, most likely in the multi billion or trillion range. Im sure there are tons more things but im tired of writing.

I have a lot of friends in other places, they usually wonder why Americans have no sense of history , or knowledge of their foreign policies, which many people hate. and our leaders they wonder how we could like them. But they like most Americans individually, and if you know about their countries and history they really like you.
