I have a tv with just coaxial and av inputs and I was wondering if there was any type of adapter or cord in existance that would let me use my it as a computer monitor. And if you do know of anything like this a web link to a place selling or talking about it would be appreciated.

This sounds like exactly what you need as long as it is within budget. In general most computers have a VGA and S-video laptops. Most TV's have S-video and component inputs. So you could probably just use an S-video cable, or you could purchase something like this which would give you better quality.

My friend just got a new Sony LCD flat screen T.V. It comes with a plug in the back to use as a monitor from the computer. Most of them do now. Your older t.v. will probably not work as a computer monitor.
