I was all with you up to the beating the crap out of them part. I think they should learn English, and we shouldn't have to learn their language. Otherwise, they should get their butts out of our country. Go America! We rock! Woohoo!

While I support learning a language before going to a country that speaks that language, I don't think it's necessary. If it were, there would be no translators, no learning, etc. Everyone but the people who learn other languages would be shut off from the rest of the world. So, no, sorry, no law about beating foreigners up just because they can't speak English, sorry.

No, I'm not mad about that. I'm mad that some people mistreat others just because they don't speak English. English is only the second most spoken language in the world; Chinese is the first. We should learn to be more tolerant of other cultures; immigrants probably come over here because it is so bad in their own country and they just want to make a life for themselves and their families. There's nothing wrong with that.

Americans who have that attitude had better never travel to any country that doesn't speak English or that country will beat the sh!t out of you! Don't go to Germany if you can't speak German, Don't go to Latin America if you can't speak Spanish, Don't go to Japan if you can't speak fluent Japanese. Stay at home and remain ignorant...let the "foreigners" become smarter than you and eventually "conquer" your archaic linguistic ideas.
Remain Xenophobic and you will be overpowered by the rest of the world. YOU are why I'm ashamed to call myself an American when I travel.

what kind of a wicked mind you have, shouldn't people have the chance to learn?tell me what kind of foreigner have enter this country and didn't learn English in the period of 6 month to a year. if you go to France or Italy for vacation and can't speak single french or Italian, they should rather beat the ridiculous mind out of you.

Alright.. then all the other countries will make it illegal for Americans to come to their country and not speak the language and then they, in turn, can beat the crap out of us.
Yeah, your logic is impecable.

Basically if you understand the Constitution, then you undrstand that people have the right not to speak english. Pretty weird, but it's the law.

I think before you demand that foreigners speak English, you must first learn to speak it yourself.

So in that vein when Americans go abroad to open shops everywhere they should know the language spoken there!
