Recently my HP DV1000 series notebook's touchpad has gone dead. Even after pressing the touchpad button several times the mouse cursor does not move. I've tried re-installing the OS (windows xp home) and installing updated drivers for the touchpad. It still does not work. Can anybody help?

Here is the HP URL troubleshooting site for your specific computer. Next thing you want me to come over and fix it too. lol

When you said reinstall, did you do a RECOVERY of the windows xp?

Is your notebook still under warranty? If not and you bought it here in the US, you could buy another one, and carefully changes cases then return it cuz it does not work and you want your money back to maybe get something else. Then you got a new one.

Anyway, here is the HP troubleshooting guide for your laptop. Have fun. FYI, if you still have it under HP warranty, ask them to tell you how much for the extended warranty. HP will give you a better and CHEAPER deal than the store. My warranty for my desktop is cheaper than the store's warranty. Plus if I spill coffee on mine, drop it, or if it gets his by a flying saucer , HP warranty will cover it. The store only covers a warranty if the computer does not work and that you have not abused or dropped the PC. Also, just in case at the URL you can get the most recent drivers as I do not know which ones you are using.

Open your Control Panel. You can open it by going to your Start Menu, then clicking on Control Panel. Double-click the Mouse icon. Go to the Touchpad On/Off tab. Make sure it's Enabled. If it's enabled, and it still doesn't work, click on Enable anyway. Then click Apply, then click OK. Applying it again may help the problem. It won't let you click Apply until you click/check the box again, or you change something. If that still doesn't work, try restarting your computer. You do that by opening your Start Menu, clicking Turn Off Computer, then clicking on Restart. If those steps still don't make your touchpad work, call HP.

counting on what type of inputs your panasonic television has available, you need to apply the exterior VGA port on your computer and get a double male vga cable. whether, it is in simple terms going to furnish you everyday decision I right now googled your computer and located a link with photos. apparently there is an S-Video out on the the main suitable option area of the device close to the hinge. The S-Video to S-Video on your television will help you apply an stronger decision. the situation is, the two a sort of in basic terms provide you video. you will nonetheless could be certain a thank you to get sound there. My advice could be to get a cable that is going on your headphone jack on one area and has the purple and white RCA connectors on the different area. seem for the lower back of the computer to have a grouped set of RCA jacks and S-Video to be sure you get a similar enter placing for the two. (meaning so which you placed your television to pass into 2 or 3 or despite and the two video and sound are available in on a similar channel)
