3(x+2)
3x + 6
anything inside brackets must be multiplied by the value to the left when expanding
** a(b+c) = ab + ac
** -a(b+c) = -ab - ac
** a(-b+c) = -ab + ac
** a(b-c) = ab - ac
** -a(b-c) = -ab + ac
**-a(-b+c) = ab - ac
** -a(-b-c) = ab + ac

You can multiply each term WITHIN the parenthesis by the COEFFICIENT, the term to the left of the parenthesis in these examples.

3(x + 2) = 3x + 6

-2(a - 3) = -2a + 6 ; You must carry the "sign" as well

5(3c - 7) = 15c - 35
---------------
Look at Moo's examples,.. just about every case you can imagine is included there, BUT do NOT try to memorize them!!! Just UNDERSTAND what's going on.
