Because they are insecure and if they can't control the outside world, they feel that by controlling their wife by hitting and emotional/Mental/Physical abuse they think that kind of control is the only way their little world will be alright. The only way that women can stop or end the cycle is LEAVE and tell the authorities! Refuse to be a victim! Stop enabling the abuser.

They do this because they usually have anger issues and do not know how to manage them... They also may have self esteem issues as well... There are lots of different reasons or excuses why they feel that they have to do this... It can also be a control or jealousy issue as well... Women also can be the abusers as well for these same reasons.... This is just wrong and should not be happening and they need help if they cannot stop beating or wanting to hurt someone. I feel that there is NEVER any excuse good enough to hit or beat up on someone like that.
Anyone who is being beat on or being abused needs to get out and get out NOW and never allow it to happen again... Get out and get to safety and help..... Do not allow yourself to ever be victimized by abuse... It is not worth it trust me!

1) Because they saw it happen in their family as they grew up. Therefore, they know no other way.
2) They are insecure about something in themselves, and take it out on the female.
3) They are jealous of the female-friends, etc. Again, jealousy stems from insecurity.
4) They may not have had a male role model to set the proper example of what a man is in their lives growing up. Only females.
5) They have anger issues. Not knowing the proper way to show anger they feel.

The reasons are different for every man. Some are just controlling, some have unresolved and untreated mental health issues, some have problems with drugs and/or alcohol. Also, different cultures vary in what is considered "acceptable" ways of treating a wife.
Bottom line: if the wife/partner puts up with it, she enables the man to continue the behavior and puts herself at risk. It is never too late to get out.

It could be because they have some serious problems or it could be because they were once abused themselves or grew up in an abusive home. It could also be that they don't know how to control themselves.

But, not only men abuse, women abuse too.
