Hi, Kimberly! :)
I'm not sure about people who meet me in person, but I'd guess they must think I like to talk, because I'm very open, and talk and smile to everybody. But I'm not a person who talks much, I prefer to listen, as I much prefer to read than to write.
Most people who meet me online and learn I'm Brazilian, have all kinds of wrong ideas, from how I should look like to what I should like to do. Most (not all, of course) don't know anything about my country, not even the language we speak here ~ Portuguese, not Spanish ~ and, when they they think about Brazil, they think about beautiful young women, beaches, forests, samba. Yes, we have all that, but Brazil is SO much more than that!! Like the US, ours is a huge country, a nation of immigrants, with people from all over the world. Every region is completely different from the others, and you'll find all kinds of people here, so you can't really close your eyes and picture how a Brazilian is. You better take the time to get to know us, I'm sure you'll love my people! :)
As for me, I'm nothing like the stereotype of a Brazilian woman. Well, I do smile a lot, yes, that's true! ;)
Thank you for the great question, and for the opportunity to share a little of me and my country! :)
Have a beautiful day! :)

People seem to think that I'm stuck-up, a bit of a snob and know-it-all. And that's not just when they first meet me, either! For some reason that's how I come across, even to the people who supposedly know me the best. It really sucks because in reality I'm so self-concious of myself and have such low self-esteem that I actually don't like myself at all, let alone think myself better than anyone else!
People also used to think that because I was in a male-oriented job (I was an electrician) that I was a lesbian! The number of people who asked me that made me almost need to wear a badge to work with "I"M STRAIGHT" on it! I was married with two kids!
You can't judge a book by it's cover!

That I'm gruff, aloof and withdrawn. I have been told that's what my body language says but I'll be darned if I feel any of that! I'm just an intellectual daydreaming!
EDIT: also that I appear a know-it-all. But actually I AM a polymath! Can I help it if they feel insecure just because I know off the top of my head what year Beethoven was born in (1770) and also know baseball, art, horseracing, chemistry, psychology, genealogy, statistics, cooking, literature, and history to boot? What should I do - play stupid? Why are people threatened with knowledge? I certainly do not know everything as I am constantly learning - but it is considered socially backward to want to learn stuff? Huh? I am not threatened with people who have athletic prowess, even though my abilities max out on bowling and pool, so why is anyone threatened by my knowledge? Who is keeping score? Not me! I learn just 'cause I want to - I would do it on a desert island. I got a bad rap!

I am disabled and I am in a Power chair. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis I cannot push myself around in a regular wheel chair. I also am an amputee (left leg above the knee) The artificial leg is very, very uncomfortable so I don't wear it. I said just the other day that I was tired of sitting on my butt. This lady told me to "Just put on your leg and walk" Now if I had two flesh and blood legs she would never have said that to me! So to answer your question all they see is the missing leg and they assume that is why I am in a power chair. Also that I must be to lazy to put on the leg and walk. Not so I want to walk again more than anyone would want to know.

So i asked;

That I'm a country girl. I was raised in the city of Chicago. But now I live in the country, keep horses (used to raise them), raise my own calves for meat. (I don't like the hormones and stuff they put in store bought meat, I like simple, corn fed beef.) My husband gets a hog twice a year for free since he works on a farm and we gnaw on that through the year. We have a garden that feeds my mom, hubby's mom, coworkers and friends. My coworkers are all city bred and raised, and I always throw them for a loop.

A crackpot incensed with his own chain of thoughts and unwilling to relent. An attitude that the society has to be given more than what one receives is usually not palatable.

That I'm a hoodlum & thug just because I listen to rap wear big baggy clothes & stuff like that. I do associate with thugs & other rebellious types but I'm totally harmless especially to ladies. I'm like that 800 lbs gorilla on the AXA commericals that when you see you see the huge scary gorilla but then when it starts to talk its like sweet & cuddley :)..... I'm a big teddy bear.

almost everyone assumes that i'm gay. that bugs me.
i'm actually bisexual. (yes, that is different from gay...heh) & i'm even not terribly flamboyant, either (that is just tacky and annoying) but people still make their assumptions.
however, i'm not afraid to talk the way my ACTUAL voice is, regardless of whether or not society perceives it as "manly" (manly...lol...ugh) & i'm not afraid to admit that, yes, i aim to eat healthy and reasonably. or that i care about my hair. or that i color coordinate. & i don't know what offends people when i talk with my hands or wear clothes that actually FIT my figure. people just assume i'm a ****, but that is so wrong. nothing against gays--i've befriended plenty--but i find it tiring that people label me as such when we first meet.
i'd rather just be recognized as a human.
i mean...aren't we all?
PS you have a beautiful weekend too.x]

When people first meet me, I usually show my shy, quiet, and even stoic side. But my real friends know I can be a real loudmouth at times (well for me anyway; there are people chattier than me).
