Yes. You see, I'm 15 years old and am obsessed with literature. 'Pride and Prejudice' is a preety good book, and as I can see you really are smart, I think you'll understand it well. I also have other recomendations for you to read:
'Anna Karenina' by Leo Tolsoy (a classic russian novel, it's excelent), 'To Kill a Mockingbird', 'Oliver Twist' by Charles Dickens (you can't miss it, it's great).
That's all for now. If you want more, you can post a question about it later and I'll answer it for you.
I think it's so great that you are into reading, because a lot of the people I live with think me weird because I love to, and I hate it that they don't because then they are not really cultured people.
Good luck, and never stop this excelent passion.

Pride and Prejudice would be a great book for a 13 year old! Plus, you're probably going to have to read in school in a couple of years...you'll be ahead of the game!
Jane Austen is a wonderful writer. If you like P & P, try reading Emma too.
Best wishes to you.

I read it when I was 12 and understood everything perfectly. If you're great in vocabulary and the Victorian Era, you'll love the book. Usually, the age isn't what matters but the person. Everyone's different, so you can't say all 13 year olds won't be able to read such a book.

I read this book in AP English and I loved it. Yes...there are words that need to be looked up. I wouldn't recommend the book for leisure reading at your age, you probably won't understand many of the allusions and colloqiual speech used during that time period without some help.

In all honesty it depends on the 13 year old and his/her reading ability and comprehension levels. I think most 13 year olds today would find Pride and Prejudice and most of the Austin novels boring and wordy and wouldn't stay with it. They are gorgeous novels but kids today want simplified language and something easy to read and Pand P isn't that.

Well, it still might be a little too deep. In the beggining, it's kinda easy. I tried reading the original version of Romeo and Juliet but gave up on the 12th page!

pride & prejudice is a fantastic book.- it's too hard for a 13 yr old to understand- no offense, but there's a lot of witty and quick dialogue that you'll miss out on simply b/c of your little experience.

I dunno. I tried it at 13, couldn't really get into it. Thomas Hardy (The Mayor of Casterbridge, Tess of the D'urbervilles, Jude the Obscure, Far from the Madding Crowd) is a LOT more readable, and FUN, too! If you're looking for romance, suspense, and intellectual stimulation, go for Thomas Hardy.

Yeah, I'd wait a few years. You'll get more enjoyment out of it when you've got a little more life experience under your belt.

It's somewhat complicated because of the complex language but you will learn it eventually. Watching the movie will help you learn it visually.
