The intervals show us information about the conduction of the heart. For example, someone with more than .2 seconds between the p wave and the QRS complex has a first degree heart block, or slowed conduction through the AV node.

to pick up on abnormalities of the heart. it is a fairly inexpensive test to detect heart disease early.
