It doesn't seem that they fit into the Republican or Democratic party, since no candidate from either party claims to be an atheist. In fact, they don't even claim to be agnostic. They all claim to follow a religion. So if atheist want representation shouldn't they form their own party?

If they think that it would help them meet their political goals, then sure they should go right ahead. However, its likely that they would be seriously outnumbered. So I think the best bet is for them to vote as a bloc in which ever of the main two parties keeps religion out of politics more than the other.

because of the fact atheism isn't a political place. We come from all varieties of political persuasions. i'm no longer happy with strikes that attempt to combination atheism with liberal ideals. Atheist strikes could concentration on atheism. Political strikes could concentration on politics. i could gladly vote for a theist who agreed with the final public of my political positions, and that i could gladly settle for a individual who did no longer consider my political positions as an atheist offering they did no longer have self belief in god(s).
