easily the karate kid. it gave birth to such pop culture phrases like "wax on, wax off", springboarded pat morita out of his happy days slapstick asian type cast, gave us our first look at elisabeth shue, and proved that a 30 year old man could portray a high school kid on the silver screen. it had the mass appeal love story sprinkled with rich vs. middle class and david vs. goliath for good measure. just when you're about to doze off during the chick flick scenes, a crane kick hits someone in the jaw to wake you up. finally it had a superior soundtrack highlighted by survivor's "moment of truth" AND bananarama's "cruel summer"

Karate Kid all the way! Rudy was boring and predictable. OK, Rudy had heart, but Daniel-son did too. He won a tournament with a busted leg. Plus, the whole Cobra Kai team's a bunch of comedians. If I had both DVDs in front of me I'd watch Karate Kid, it has more replay value.

First Karate Kid movie was the better. Rudy was good but being about football, excluded alot of potential viewers. The Karate kid appealed to more people. Young, old, men and also girls.

Karate Kid has a special place in my heart (I'm aware of how cheesy that sounds). It was a seemingly epic movie when I was a kid. I wanted to see The Jungle Book, but all of my older cousins wanted to see Karate Kid. When we came back from seeing it, we were all "expert" karate kids ourselves. There's pictures and everything. Rudy is good too (it DOES have the chant), but Karate Kid was perfect for its time. :)

Karate Kid will always be a classic and I liked it much better. I've watched it at least 6 or 7 times. The reason is, I guess, because I liked Ralph Macchio better than that kid who played Rudy. Sorry, I forgot his name. Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin to it !

Rudy-Karate kid was a made-up fictional movie. Rudy was an actual real guy that went out there and persued his dream.
