The first three answers are not very open minded; sorry I have to say that.
Obviously, propellant and jet engines are not the only sources of power that can lift things today; and yes, people might grow wings on a human beings if they'd want to do so.

I take the problem to mean, will it ever be possible to levitate in the air without resorting to conventional aerodynamics or thrust propulsion systems? And by "levitate", I mean with significant clearance from the ground, ruling out maglev systems? A tough one! About the only thing we're left with is anti-gravity of science fiction. But is it so impossible? Not necessarily. If gravity was actually a magnetic field, it's not unphysical to have such levitation systems. The only reason why "we don't have anti-gravity" is because General Relativistic understanding of gravity pretty much rules out a practical realization, and that's why it's mostly dismissed. However, General Relativity is not a water-tight theory, and there are now competing theories, such as Quantum Gravity. And there have been experimental reports that may force physicists to revise their understanding of gravity, and such reports do suggest the possibility of anti-gravitation. Check the link. The jury is still out on this one, it would be premature to proclaim anti-gravitation a fantasy.

In the future any thing can happen, so why not? People may suddenly develop psychic powers, or develop antigravity belts etc. After all, modern science and magic are indistinguishable to a child who has not yet been exposed to the laws of science!

Your question is open ended, it doesn't say in near future! And such open ended questions draw a wide range of responses including what you already got. Looks like you too are a SF fan like me!

No you idiot you cant just magically hover in the air you need some kind of propulsion its just a simple law of nature.
