In Native American mythology & medicine, to have a bird behave in such a manner towards you, is very meaningful. Unfortunately, as hard as I tried to find something on the web for you, I couldn't locate anything specific to the Red Cardinal. I will have to "fly by the seat of my pants" with what knowledge I have to interpret what you have written here.

The Cardinal flew into your house. This is very significant because it indicates that the bird had/has something important to impart to you. The fact that it stayed on your front porch after your returned it there, also speaks to this. If I were you, as crazy as this sounds, I would go out onto your portch and ask the bird directly, in you own voice, "Why are you here? Is there something you need to say to me?" Try to make eye contact when you do this and be very mindful of what the bird does once you speak to it.

If it flies off, note the direction. If it looks at something then makes a bird sound, take note what that is. Once you have this information, the bird's specific reaction, feel free to email me through this site.

Red is the color of passion. Perhaps the bird is here to inspire something creative in you. Cardinals are also birds of spring. This indicates new beginnings. Perhaps you need to venture off in a new creative direction and the bird is here to give you support. The Cardinal's springtime song is also very beautiful and is used to attract a mate. Perhaps you need to "get out there" and show off your beautiful song and your beautiful color (metaphorically speaking) in order to attract the right people into your circle.

All in all, it's a good sign in my humble opinion. Don't be afraid to it or the animal kingdom in general. They can give us a great deal and guide us in meaningful ways.

It remains one of the mysteries of life. Must have been part of evolutionary success. Do you enjoy giving bj's? If you want to keep your man happy it's fun to just do this like in between....and you can't get pregnant. Too many women never figure this out or accept it, even if Mr Right loves eating the beaver. If a man marries a beautiful woman and they have a good sex life, well that's wonderful. That's how most of us got here. But if he seldom or NEVER gets a bj from his own wife, that sucks ! Personally I believe this can be an acquired taste? No one likes olives or caviar or lots of things the first time they taste it. I have never ever dated a guy who did not honk my horn. But a distinct majority of women over the years have refuse to partake, even though I am an enthusiastic rug-muncher. Almost as bad, some who do would really rather not ! They hold their nose or choke and weep while they do me a favor.

I've raised Cardinals and overseas they're sold to fanciers like other birds are sold here in the states. There is the possibility you have a cardinal that fell from the nest and raised in someones home. All of them leave the foster parents when they are old enough to mate. I would presume that some would give and expect the same treatment they received at their first home.

Birds are considered messengers. Some cultures see them as omens of death, some see them as owens of change. Most cultures see killing the birds as VERY bad luck, much worse than whatever message they bear.

People could well be right that it's a young bird, possibly used to people, simply looking for food.

It probably wants to nest in your plants, I had some guest birds last spring. I think it means that the bird needs a place to live. Leave it alone and you might have bird babies.

hwen a bird enters your house it is a message, usually that a death is coming, so if you dont want the message that the bird is carrying you need to kill it. and if you dont beleive me you should because im speaking from experience. however it doesnt always mean death. it could mean anything, did you notice anything particular to you that the bird was doing. btw im not carzy its true and its been happening for years. good luck, all you really can do is sit and wait

well it may signify the death of your last remaining neuron. but most likely it doesn't mean a thing , the bird was just disoriented

It sounds like it was probably someone's pet as stated many times already. However, if you'd like some more "mystical" explanation, you can visit http://www.animalspirits.com
