I need 1 or 2 locations in the US where the group lives or has highly populated the area. Illegal or not, I don't think it matters for the paper.
I am writing a research essay and have searched on the internet for about 2 hours.
I have checked the US census website but didn't see what I was looking for.
Thanks.

Here are some excellent answers to your Question...
. Mexican populations tend to be concentrated in the Southwest and Illinois
http://www.prcdc.org/summaries/hispanics/hispanics.html
http://www.migrationinformation.org/Feature/display.cfm?ID=208
Hispanics are concentrated largely in the South and West, and in a few large metropolitan regions (especially New York and Chicago). Over half live in just two states, California (11.0 million) and Texas (6.7 million). Five more states have Hispanic populations of one million or more: New York (2.9 million), Florida (2.7 million), Illinois (1.5 million), Arizona (1.3 million) and New Jersey (1.1 million).
PS Mexicans DID NOT Come northward and build missions in california. And just because mexicans speak spanish, doesnt mean they live in towns called Santa.Thats pretty ignorant.

I'd have to say Texas. I'm Canadian so i'm not 100% sure but I often have communications with people in the Texas area. They often complain about the mass amounts of Mexicans.
Not only that but if you look on the North American map; you'll notice that Mexico is clostest to Texas. So if they are illegal or legal they are most likely to go to Texas.
Since Mexicans are used to warm climates then there is a higher chance they will not settle in northern states such as New York. Once again Texas because Mexico and Texas have similar climates.
I hope this helps!

Wow - hard to find!
The following paper, "The Diffusion of Mexican Immigrants During the 1990s: Explanations and Impacts", by David Card, Department of Economics, UC Berkeley and NBER
Ethan G. Lewis, Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, has very specific numbers of Mexicans in US cities:

Hope this helps!

Try Santa Barbara CA, I was raised there. And try any southern CA town with Santa in the beginning of the name. Much of So CA was first inhabited by hispanics that travelled north and built missions. But Santa Barbara is a great one.
