"He later remarried in 1801 to Mary Jane Clairemont" is this proper grammar? if not, how should i reword it?

i should also add that he married a new wife after his first one died.....dont get confused on the wording!

Well, how about: "He later remarried to Mary Jane Clairemont in 1801?" That would sound more proper

He remarried, later in 1801 to, Mary Jane Clairemont.

This is incorrect. You can write either: 'He later remarried Mary Jane Clairemont in 1801' or 'In 1801 he remarried Mary Jane Clairemont.
