Which brand would you recommend GE, Maytag, Sharp, or Fedders.

I live in GA and I need something that will last. I had a Sharp and it lasted 5 years.

Your compressor and coil is guaranteed to last 7 years against leaks and burnout by Federal Law so if you have your receipt take that thing to a repairshop that does Sharp repairs and get it fixed free. You must have the receipt. Mine was 6 years old and they fixed it for free, it had a leak in the coil.

They are all the same. That is a competitive business and most are made in China by the same manufacturer. So a $150 unit by GE is same as a $150 Sears unit and so on.

Figure out how much you want to spend, the features are quietness of blower and so on. More cost= quieter machine with more bells and whistles like a thermostat that mounts on the wall.

Walmart, lowes, depot, they all have really good prices starting around June

I'd go with the best deal you can find on a new unit. They are all good. Buy the features you like and make sure you get an energy-efficient unit even if it costs a little more up front. I like the ones with a remote control.

I would think that the Fedders is the best, but if you were happy with the sharp go with that.
