Of course there were and are persistent rumors that Arafat was poisoned, that he died of aids etc etc.
The facts are that Arafat's wife would NOT allow an autopsy, which, had it been done, would have disclosed many answers.
Secondly, had the medical reports shown any signs of poisoning there would, by NOW, be a HUGE WAVE of action yet there have been NONE.
Doctors admit that Arafat did have idiopathic purpura which means LOW blood platelets. This disease is NOT even treated very well in America since it is "the immune system attacking itself" in the simplest terms.
Transfusions don't work since the system merely destroys those new platelets. Bone marrow transplant is often used with mediocre results. Those that do recover do so when the immune system changes within itself. And the word "idiopathic" means that there is NO KNOWN CAUSE.
Finally doctors in Jordan who attended Arafat say that he did suffer a stroke from which he never recovered. At 75 years old and with poor health control it is safe to say that Arafat died of natural causes.
My own opinion is that there will be NO MORE serious investigation of his death

Arafat was flown to France on Oct. 29 after suffering from digestive problems and a blood disorder
his organs failed as a result of - The 558-page report on Arafat's final illness assembled by French doctors describes a complex disorder, known as disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), the main causes of which are malignancy and infection. The blood vessels are blocked by small blood clots, depleting the platelets and clotting factors needed to control bleeding, and leading to haemhorrage and death. (In Percy, Arafat was given heparin, an anti-coagulant which is the normal treatment for DIC, helping to prevent the consumption of platelets. However, it can also exacerbate any bleeding.) But DIC is always a secondary condition
t has not been made clear what illness the Palestinian leader was suffering from, though doctors ruled out cancer and rejected the allegation - repeated on Thursday by the Hamas militant group - that he had been poisoned.
He had been in a coma since 3 November and on Tuesday suffered a brain haemorrhage. In his final hours he had kidney and liver failure.
The doctors have never ventured an opinion on the underlying causes and, according to the physician Kurdi, there was a refusal by the man who later went on to succeed Arafat as president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, to contemplate an autopsy.
some think he was poisoned - some cancer or some sort of blood disorder. but without an autopsy we'll never know.

Probable because the Palestine government has not released that information or they did not do an autopsy due to their religious beliefs
