First, if you like Grace Slick's voice, you should try to find two of her solo records, "Welcome To The Wrecking Ball" and "Dreams". Don't get "Fox-face"; it was terrible.
Have you listened much to Melissa Etheridge? She's also a powerful singer.
One of my all time favorites is the soundtrack to "The Rose" with Bette Midler.
Both Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart are fantastic singers. If you haven't seen their performance on Sound Stage, you need to find an evening where you can turn off the phone, put in the DVD, and be prepared to be amazed.
Most groups after a while seem to get stale, but Heart (especially in Part 2) ratchet up their performance to a level you'd expect to see in an amphitheatre. I never realized how amazing these two women are, because I had only listened to their music, but never seen them live. They put other musicians to shame. In rock, they are the "real deal". You will be blown away.

You're not going to believe this, but Lisa Marie Presley is almost at the top of my list. Her song "Idiot" is on Yahoo Music. But for my money, no one will ever beat Lita Ford.
