Artificially is a loaded word.
I only buy American assembled cars. I identify with this country. I was born here and I only want to live here. I have traveled to many parts of the world but I want to live here.
I will say it again. Artificially is a loaded word.
There is an economic game to be played. The players are all aware of the consequences of various actions they take. artificially causing the yen to have a lower value reduces the goods and services available to the Japanese populace. There is a political price paid by any Japanese government that is found to have done such a thing. In addition the US government might be driven to take actions that they might not otherwise take which would damage the Japanese economy.
