i have a newborn baby and i was wondering, is it bad for them to smell it...i put it on my chest and if she smells it, is it bad? or is it just bad if it directly put on them?

They should not be exposed to it at all, due to their immune system. It opens them up for infection, nose bleeding, throat inflamation and possible lung damage. Putting it on them even just touching you with it on you can cause skin irritation as well. it is just too strong for their delicate system.

First, their lungs aren't developed like an adult, so it can be harmful. The smell is okay for adults, but inhaling the product at a close distance (for example if you put it in your nose or under your nose) is harmful because the gel goes into your lungs and you have no way to get rid of it. It can be harmful over time.

When my little guy was about a month old I used a very very tiny amount of the vick's baby rub on his chest b/c he was very clogged up sounding.

If CAMPHOR is an active ingredient, it can be toxic to babies. There is a baby version which does not contain camphor.

their skin is too thin for vapour rub, if they inhale it, it could burn the nose and cause bleeding
