I don't want my baby to hang out in a wet diaper, but we go through diapers like crazy! He only pees a little bit sometimes and it doesnt even feel wet on the inside, but I feel bad about leaving him in a wet diaper. What would you do?

I have not left him in a wet diaper.....I was asking because I know people that leave their kid in a diaper until it starts leaking. I don't want to use cloth diapers because I do enough laundry.

If you notice that they;re wet, change them. My daughter, I can't always tell, and she used to jsut pee a little bit in each diaper, so I was constantly going through them. Now for whatever reason, I can DEFINITELY tell, because she soaks them She doesn't leak, but the front of her diaper will be stiff. And no, I don't leave her in them very long. I'm talking even if I put a clean diaper on her, after 10 minutes, this girl can pee a diaper full!

FYI:I know most baby diapers feel stiff in the front if baby pees, but for whatever reason, if you're using Pampers, they get squishy. Kinda gross, but if baby feels like that, best to change.

I do agree that even if there's a little pee, it needs to be cleaned up. I've heard horror stories about babies having galded buts from sitting in pee.

I have 2 kids and niether EVER had diaper rashes ever! I always kept on top of the diaper. My first son when born went thru about 20 diapers a day...my 2nd son went thru about 10 diapers a day. I always felt the front of the diaper , if it felt bulky - I changed it, if they went #2 - I changed it IMMEDIATELY. Otherwise about every 2 hrs I would change it if they were awake. Always went to sleep with a clean diaper and as soon as they woke up I changed the diaper! I know its alot, but its better than a red, diaper rashy booty.

If I changed my daughters diaper every time she peed, thats all I'd be doing. I change her when she poops (right away) and every hour or two when it's just pee. When I can feel that it needs changing. I did it like that for all three of my kids and they hardly ever had diaper rashes.

Would change the diaper even if only damp.A wet bottom can cause skin irritation and nappy rash.I mean if you can feel it so can he.Best to be safe than sorry.Perhaps you could cotton diapers, much cheaper as they are washable reuseable forever,

As long as it's not effecting his skin then no. My daughter's diaper is swollen when she wakes up and of course the first thing I do is change it. The disposable diapers are really absobent and great at keeping the wetness away.

for a newborn i would suggest changing them each time they feed, every 3-4 hours. if u notice they are particularly wet, or if they are upset then change them again. i usually go through about 6 changes a day for each of my babies

change him every time. clothe diapers are cheaper and as long as changes are being done and detergent used does not cause skin irritation, diaper rash won't be a problem.
