I had a bottle of honey sitting on my carpet. Why? Because I was too lazy to pick it up. What I didn't know was that it was leaking. Now I have a spot about two inches in diameter which is soaked with honey. Is there any way I can remove it? No, I won't pour gasonline on it and light a match. Any good advice will be most appreciated.

Take a lint free cotton rag and soak down the spot with ordinary rubbing alchol. Use the rag to wipe out the honey out of the fibers, changing the rag frequently. Alchol is a solvent for honey and will not ruin your carpet.

Then for a final clean take some ordinary dish detergent and water and give it a good last over cleaning.

Really, this is fairly easy to remove. If you leave it on there and it absorbs moisture from the air, it will turn to sugar and be a larger problem.

I use honey in my tea every day so I suggest that you pour boiling hot water on the spot and dab at it with paper towels. Keep repeating until its gone. Hot water melts the honey to fine liquid.
