How and what was it. Also, what did you guys have in replacement to what we have now?

For example--

Those huge telegrams compared to those small cell phones that we all have now.

You don't have to be so old to know what its like to live without modern conveniences...I lived on a homestead in Alaska with no running water, electricity or transportation. Haul water, chop wood, walk, hunt, read books, pick berries, use the out house, fish, candles and kerosene lamps. Emergency generator to operate an emergency radio... Been there, done that. A life style that makes a person very appreciative for little things.

That would have made my life easier back when? How long ago are you trying to go back?

When I was little about the only things we didn't have were cell phones (no cordless phones either) and VCR's. Oh, no internet either. But since I was young, I didn't need any of these things, so life wouldn't have been easier.

1).Running water in the house, as a kid we ran to the spring at the foot of a hill, down in the woods.
2). Gas/Elect. cook stove, I had to cut wood for cooking.
3). Elect. light, we used kerosene lamps.
4) indoor restroom, it got pretty cold out in the out house.
5) Telephone, had to personally go to a person when needful.
6) Automobile, had to ride a bus to town or ride with someone
7) Gas furnace, I sure hated getting up 4:00 am to build a fire in the fire place on a cold morning. I could go on and on.
