He is not the right one for you. That is domestic violence, that no one should put up with at all. A man is to love, protect, and care for his wife, and family. He is to nurture the wife, and family. Build them up, not tear them down. The cops should be called whenever there is a DV matter. For the person that did the hitting, they go to jail (at least in some states) for a 24 hr. cooling off period. At that time of a break, the woman should get out, go to court, get a restraining order on the man, and get him served with his copy (it goes into effect the moment he received his copy by being served his copy either by police dept. or someone else 18 or older) not the victim. No man has the right to hit a woman. Just as no woman has the right to hit a man. Domestic violence, unfortunately, can sometimes be a two way street. I am sorry you have had to experience this in your early years. Or even, at all. I wish you the best. Take care.

You didn't specify why and what the reasons. nevertheless beating is never been good in a healthy relationship. I dont understand what frame of mind he have. Have you tried to talk your mother? Wish your mother will wake up soon. This will be a perenial problem and it will like be a cycle in your life. Your mother should solve this problem, otherwise she will suffer till the end.

People don't understand how a woman feels. When you have been with someone so long, you have kids with this person. You depend on this person.Perhaps this person supports you and your kids..It is not so easy to leave a person you have been with for a long time. The world is a scary place and with kids its even scarier.Even if he does beat you he is SOMEONE to you.Its hard to explain. You have a past with this person. You are connected. For a woman with kids to start over is a horrifying thought.Yes, there are shelters, but to leave your HOME for one of those places is not easy. Remember he may beat you but you still have a home and its hard to leave your home.Plus add the fact you might still love him, praying for him to change, perhaps he keeps telling you he'll change. After all is said and done it is very hard to leave someone you loved or still love and to leave your home.

If he beats you than he's not the right one for you. Get out. Regardless of how you were treated by your parents, it is not ok for someone to treat you that way.

If he is really the right one for you he would not beat you or do anything to intentionally hurt you. Love is kind, it is not hurtful.
