I'm aware that sudoku puzzles are popular. No, I don't think they're "too hard" and I can solve one if I want, but I find them so boring that I was shocked when I saw that some people were "addicted" to them. What makes them so popular? I just can't figure it out.

Sudoku is popular to people because they excel in it. Just think of what sport you excel in, and how much you love that sport. See what I mean? Each person has his own likes and dislikes as well as talents and weaknesses. It is popular right now because so many people are trying their hand at it, then realizing that they can do it and that it's not that intimidating at all. This should answer your question.

However, I also think that it is a fad that will soon be gone but only to the diehard fan. Think of Rubik's Cube and where it is now. I think of myself as good in sudoku, because I have this talent for logical thinking. But somewhere down the road, I did find it quite monotonous. Currently, I seldom play it anymore.

No, they are not boring. I throughly enjoyed doing them with my best friend until he recently moved and now that is one of the many things I miss doing with him. They are fun to play b/c you have to think and you do excel in them. At first they were hard for me and now I can usually breeze right through them except when they get real hard.

I was wondering that myself. They held my interest for a short time, but I soon tired of them.

They're not only boring -- they're monotonous. And they're a fad. They'll be gone soon.
