If you want a accurate answer get a blood test.
My friend had to take like 3 test before it read positive. So yes some of them you can fail and still be preggo. But most of them are very accurate. Good Luck

The home pregnancy tests these days are very accurate.
I had been told for 20 years that i would never conceive and have taken hundreds of hpt's. In aug.....i thought i had the flu and was possibly suffering from early menapause. I had an old hpt that was prolly a year old or better. Just for the heck of it, i used it one morning. It was positive.
I went to the doc and told the nurse that i had a positive test and that it was old and probably not current. She said that the hpt tests are very accurate....like 99% these days and she hasnt seen a false positive in years. I had a blood test done to make sure.....i was pregnant.
I am now 31 weeks expecting a baby boy and thrilled.
I have never had a false positive. every one i had ever taken before read negative. I tried to conceive for 8 years straight, testing every month.
So, they are very accurate, even more now than they were several years ago.
Good luck to u.

The one's done at the doctor's office are more accurate because they are more thorough. But in my experience, my pregnancy with my son I only got 1 false negative and all the rest were positive...and with my recent pregnancy I got around 3 false negatives before I got the positives. The blood tests at the doctor's office are more reliable then any urine tests (at home ones or doctor's ones). But what's better at detecting pregnancy then any test (blood or urine) is the exam that your doctor will give you to detect pregnancy. Call your doctor and request a blood test and an exam.

Doc's office tests are more accurate because there's less room for human error. Home tests are very accurate if done correctly, but some tests are pickier than others with regard to urine stream, how much urine, length of time since last period, etc.

Its possible to get a false negative but very rare to get a false positive. A blood test at the doctor is the most accurate.

I posed this question to my sister-in-law who has been a laboratory tech. for nearly 20 years. She says that the current home tests use exactly the same technology that her laboratory tests do and when done correctly at home (first stream of morning, correct timing, and the such) the home test is just as accurate as the hospital test since they are the same test.

Yes it is, i tested at home and got several negs but the closer you wait until your period is fue the result should be clearer. I found that the clear blue digital tests were the best but depending on the sensitivity of the tests - each one can differ!

the most accurate is blood tests, i took a pregnancy test from the dollar tree and they work jus as good as e.p.t. try to take another test and use the first urine in the morning, it has the highest hormone level and is the best to use

False negatives (pregnant but doesn't register) are way more common than false positives (which are virtually unheard of). The further along you are, the more accurate they become.
