Of course. It always helps to put them at ease, and it relaxes the rest of us, because now we have fresh meat. Supplies are running low. Newbies aren't all scrawny. Not so stringy.
And this is where we make shotgun shells, this is where we watch Lucio Fulci movies, and this is the kitchen. You'll be wanting to get familiar with that. That's where newbies tend to start out.
