A few friends and I were thinking about going to sedona for the day. One of my friends asked his parents and his dad said yes. no worries there. When I asked my mom, she was rather hesitant becuase I would be the one driving. We live in phoenix and sedona is only two hours away. Do you have any suggestions or advice that would help me persuade my parents into letting us go?

2 hours away seems reasonable for a day trip--but they may be concerned about the friends that are going with (are they responsible or do they tend to "get into trouble?") and what you will be doing.
You may want to give them your itinerary for the day, and arrange to check in with them at pre-set times by phone. Also, allow them to set the time to arrive home by--AND MAKE SURE YOU MEET IT!
You sound like a pretty responsible young adult, but keeep in mind that you are still their child, and most likely it would be their car you would be taking...
